Story
Born on the summer solstice of YD 6975 in the primarily apkallu-settled town of Widpool, Kasumi developed her interest in music and storytelling early in life. Kasumi's father, a fisherman by trade, regaled her with stories of apkallu folk heroes, bawdy sea shanties and traditional song-prayers for luck and favorable weather. Kasumi's mother, an artist primarily working with coral, further encouraged Kasumi's creative inclinations. The first instrument she learned to play was the biwa but she favors the shamisen for its simplicity and distinctive sound.
Charismatic and energetic, Kasumi easily found herself at the center of attention and performing came naturally to her. She grew bored of a rote repertoire of traditional pieces, eventually adopting a more personal, conversational cabaret-style of performance where she offered monologues, musings and (often humorous) anecdotes between musical pieces. Kasumi would often be seen stalking merchants in the harbor or flagging down nomadic muruch to extract news and rumors, which she would incorporate into her performances.
With a strong morbid curiosity, Kasumi often found herself drawn to tales that were especially shocking and scandalous. To that end, Kasumi became fascinated with Marchioness Sebastienne Goeth and resolved to chronicle her various deeds in the form of a one-woman show and perform it throughout Geb. She set out from Widpool at the end of YD 6997 after receiving an anonymous letter disclosing the Marchioness' whereabouts, hoping to cross paths with her muse.
Personality
Hyper-social and vivacious, Kasumi prides herself on her uncanny ability to befriend almost anyone: each new person presents a wealth of opportunities for fun, growth and most importantly, stories. At first blush she might appear to be a ditzy party girl concerned with chasing pleasures and entertainment, but she is a true artist at heart and serious about her craft. Her dream is to establish herself as a widely known, world-class performer, distinguished by her shamisen mastery and unconventional style.

❤︎ Has a high-pitched voice and animated way of speaking often described by others as "annoying".
❤︎ Appears to have a fetish for exotic (to her) teeth, preferring tusks, fangs and canines. Known for requesting to look inside her partners' mouths.
